PSUD Men Drop Tough One at Home
With two evenly matched teams, DuBois knew they had to play at their best to surpass PSU Fayette. The pace was hurried from the tip. After two missed shots from Fayette, DuBois answered with a couple of jump shots from Sam Roselli and Louie Conde. This got things rolling for the PSUD Men. Five minutes into the game and DuBois found themselves with their largest lead 15-9. Everything seemed to be coming together; shots were falling and defensive pressure was present. Like any collegiate game, Fayette came back. At the ten minute mark the game was tied at 21 a piece. Both teams continued to battle and scrap. Fayette built on their momentum in pushing the lead 35-28 at the five minute mark. With a series of missed shots and defensive mistakes, DuBois found themselves down 48-39 at the half. DuBois knew adjustments needed to be made in order to get themselves back into the game.
For the first five minutes of the second half, DuBois began to chip into the lead. At the fifteen minute mark, PSUD found themselves down one 53-52. Fayette answered by going on an 8-2 run within a 2 minute span pushing the score to 61-54. With added energy from the Dubois bench, both teams continued to grind. DuBois made a run of their own. With the ten minute mark approaching, PSUD had once again tied the game at 67-67. Dubois continued the momentum over the next several minutes when they took the lead at the 8:00 mark after a made three pointer by Tristan Pierce. Unfortunately, this was the last time that Dubois would see the lead. Fayette hit their next 3 shots pushing the lead to 79-72 in their favor. With only five minutes left, DuBois knew they had to fight in order to get back in this game. For four minutes, PSUD picked up their intensity as panic mode had set in. It seemed that for every shot that Dubois had made, Fayette had answered with one of their own. With just under a minute remaining, PSUD found themselves within 5 points, 85-80. However, the Dubois squad was unable to get over the barrier after Fayette went 9-12 from the charity stripe thus sealing the win. PSUD came up short with a 94-86 loss. The game ended up with 5 ties and 11 lead changes. Notable players for PSUD were: Louie Conde 27-10, Tristan Pierce 21-8, Sam Roselli 19-7, and Kyle Mills 16.
DuBois returns to action on Saturday, December 19th as they head to PSU Mont Alto. Tip is scheduled for 4:00.
