Lions Show Promise Despite 78-68 Loss
In the men's matchup, Penn State DuBois went toe-to-toe with Jamestown CC before ultimately falling 78-68.
The Lions battled hard all game, cutting into the Jayhawks' lead multiple times, but Jamestown's execution down the stretch proved to have the upperhand. The Lions demonstrated defensive intensity and unselfish play, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the season. Midway through the first half, Penn State DuBois started cutting into the lead. A sequence of defensive rebounds and fast-break opportunities shifted momentum briefly in their favor. The Lions' guards found seams, and the forwards banged on the glass. Still, Jamestown responded quickly with key stops and timely buckets, preserving a lead heading into the break.
In the second half, the pattern continued: the Lions made runs, but couldn't sustain them long enough to overtake the Jayhawks. Crucial moments late in the game tilted the balance. Jamestown executed in the late clock, hit free throws under pressure, and closed out possessions more efficiently. The Lions showed grit and heart, but a few missed opportunities and perhaps some lapse in execution kept them from completing the comeback. Ashton Fortson lead the team in points with 18, while Alex Preston had 13 points and 9 rebounds helping the team on both sides of the floor.
The men's team will be traveling to Penn State Mont Alto this weekend for a tournament where they will play Bucks County CC, and Christendom College in hopes to get their first win of the new season.
