Women takedown USCAA #7, going 2-0 on the weekend, while the men go 1 and 1
The Penn State DuBois men's and women's basketball teams completed a busy PSUAC conference weekend with back-to-back home doubleheaders against Penn State Scranton on Friday and Penn State Hazleton on Saturday. Both the men and women's programs showed stretches of strong play, resilience, and continued growth as they progress through conference action.
Women's Game's
The Lady Lions had a strong weekend against conference foe's Penn State Scranton and the #7 ranked USCAA team, Penn State Hazelton. The ladies were pushing the pace early in both games and found a rhythm offensively over the whole weekend. DuBois moved the ball well in the halfcourt and generated quality looks, with several players contributing across the scoring column. Their offensive play was very impressive on the weekend as everyone played a large role in the two wins. With DuBois handly beating #7 PSU Hazelton 76-37 and Scranton 67-46, they should be looking to move up in the national rankings from being #10 in the latest coaches poll going into the weekend.
Men's Game
The DuBois men started the weekend with a physical matchup against Penn State Scranton. DuBois attacked the paint early and controlled segments of the game through rebounding and defensive pressure. Momentum swung several times throughout the contest, with DuBois stringing together key scoring runs. Scranton countered with late buckets, leading to an intense closing stretch before the final whistle with DuBois taking the 96-86 win. A quick turnaround on Saturday showed to be a tough bounceback for the lions as they dropped a 105-66 game to Penn State Hazleton.
Both teams are back in action at the PAW Center on Tuesday, December 9th as the take on Berkley College with games starting at 6 and 8 pm.
