PSUD Basketball and Softball Gets Commit for 2018-2019

PSUD Basketball and Softball Gets Commit for 2018-2019:
Penn State DuBois is excited to announce that Makenzie Lukehart of Glendale High School has decided to continue her academic and athletic basketball and softball careers at Penn State DuBois. Lukehart is a member of the National Honor Society and President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Makenzie is a 3-year starter for the Glendale basketball team, 4-year letter winner and helped lead the Vikings to the 2017 Mo Valley League Champions and the 2016 Mo Valley League Co-Champions. Makenzie has been the steals leader for her sophomore and junior seasons and is now the all-time leader for steals in school history. She has led the team in assists the past two seasons. PSUD Women's Basketball Coach Pat Lewis said, "Makenzie is exactly the type of young lady we hope to get in our athletic programs at DuBois. She is a fantastic student and very athletic but more importantly, she is a nice young lady. Her attitude and her speed will be an asset to both programs here on campus. I'm very excited for her to join our basketball program next season and happy for Makenzie and her family."
In softball, Makenzie was named first-team All-State last year as a junior. She committed just one error while starting in center field and compiled 36 put outs to go with six outfield assists. At the plate, Makenzie hit safely in 20 of 24 games and had a .679 slugging percentage. She compiled 9 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and had a .500 on base average while scoring 38 times. Head Softball Coach Jason Kern is excited to add Lukehart to the program. "Makenzie is an intelligent and athletically gifted young lady that will help build and take our program to the standard that we expect. She adds power at the plate while providing speed on the bases and in the field defensively. We are extremely happy that she has decided to continue her softball career at PSD and help build this program to a contender."
