Women's Basketball Storm's Back in the Second Half to complete the Comeback Win
The Penn State DuBois women's basketball team delivered a statement win on Monday night by defeating the number eight ranked preseason team in the coaches poll, Kent State Tuscarawas at home in a strong comeback performance that showcased their growth and chemistry early in the season. DuBois came out to a slow start against the Golden Eagles as they found themselves down by as much as 18 points in the first half, trailing 37-27 going into halftime.
Going into the second half, DuBois would have to step up their defensive play and adjust their scheme in order to get them back into the game. Coming out of the half the Lady Lions went on an 8-0 run that would bring them back into the game and trailing by only two points. It was the connection of Frances Milliron to Elizabeth Hungiville that got them back into the game utilizing passes in the paint to Hungeville. Milliron had recorded 12 points of her own with 9 assists in the game, while Hungiville lead the team with 24 points and 15 rebounds. The difference of the game came in the fourth quarter with Natalie Bowser's relentlessness on the glass and Eden Wonderling with her defensive play stopping KSU-T guard Zoey Steele. Bowser secured 20 rebounds and 10 points of her own, and Eden Wonderling had 11 points while hitting some very important free throws in the fourth quarter that helped DuBois secure the comeback win 62-56.
