Men and Women's Basketball teams win at home
The Men and Women's basketball teams have been very successful in the past week of games. Both finding themselves sitting towards the top, in the west division of the PSUAC.
Women's Basketball: The Penn State DuBois women's team earned a hard-fought 57-47 win over Penn State Mont Alto on Saturday. The game was tight for three quarters, tied at 42-42 heading into the final frame. Penn State DuBois took control in the fourth quarter, outscoring Mont Alto 15-5 to seal the victory 57-47.
On Tuesday, Dubois squared off against Penn State Fayette in which was a close game, before the ladies pulled away late in the fourth quarter to take the game by a score of 73-62. Natalie Bowser and Rebecca Martin were the leading scorers for the ladies with Bowser having 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Martin had 21 points shooting efficently from outside the arc.
Mens Basketball: The Penn State DuBois men's team secured a thrilling 84-81 victory over the #2 ranked USCAA Penn State Mont Alto. The Nittany Lions held a 46-40 advantage at halftime and managed to hold off a second-half push from Mont Alto to clinch the 84-81 win. Four players for Dubois had double digit points in the game being Alex Preston, Ashton Fortson, Cole Love, and Jordin Sommers.
Tuesday, Dubois men's team squared off with Penn State Fayette who is currently sitting at the top of the PSUAC West. DuBois got off to a slow start as the found themselves trailing by 16 points halfway through the first half and cutting the lead to 8 points going into the half. In a back and fourth second half DuBois was able to knot the game 84-84 at the end of regulation to force overtime. A complete team effort in overtime helped DuBois complete the comeback in a 103-97 finish.
