Women's Volleyball falls to Greater Allegheny in 3 sets
In a dramatic and somewhat nerve-wracking showdown last night, the Penn State DuBois women's volleyball team lossed to Penn State Greater Allegheny 3–0. Behind a commanding performance from Navaeh Spaeth, solid playmaking from Tessa Rethi, and despite an injury to key contributor Natalie Bowser.
The lady lions came up short in the first set falling to Greater Allegheny 25-15. The second set took a darker turn when Natalie Bowser went down with what appeared to be an ankle injury. The play was halted as medical staff tended to her, and she was unable to continue. The loss of Bowser — a key presence in the frontcourt and an experienced attacker/blocker — rattled DuBois momentarily as they dropped the second set 25-16. The third set was the set of the night for DuBois, they found themselves down 23-15 before they stormed back into the game tieing it up at 24. Greater Allegheny would take the next two points making the final score 26-24 in the game. The women are back in action Saturday as they travel to Penn State Beaver in a tri-match with Beaver and UC-Clermont.
